LeadChat is developed in PHP and MySql.

We are currently using PHP version 4.4.

  4. Do I need special OS for it?
LeadChat has been designed so that the user can install it and run it with minimum requirements. Here are some of the key requirements for the software to run.

Software Requirements:
  • UNIX, Linux, FreeBSD, Microsoft Windows NT (NT, 2000 and XP) server.
  • Apache, Netscape or Microsoft IIS web server.
  • MySQL databases. Microsoft Access is not supported.
  • MySQL (version 3.23 or higher.)
  • PHP (version 4.2.3 or higher) when possible.
  • Crontab is helpful but not required.
 
  5. Do I need special Hardware for it?
The hardware requirements for LeadChat are:

Hardware Requirements:
  • AMD/Pentium 300mhz or more.
  • 64 MB RAM (SDRAM preferably.)
 
  6. Are there any other requirements?

Other Basic Requirements include:
  • Remote access via telnet/shell is helpful during installation.
  • FTP access is helpful during installation.
  • Time-run limitations are hurtful but not fatal to the script.
Note: Crontab is not required.
 
  7. How will I install LeadChat?
LeadChat installation can be done by following the steps below:

1. Unpack downloaded zip-archive with WinZip or any other Zip archiver supporting long file names in an empty directory keeping the directory structure.
For Winzip Go to http://www.winzip.com/.

2. Upload the whole directory (all files/subdirectories in it) to your server by an FTP program.

3. Create database on the webserver and note down the User name, password and Database Name
Note: the Database file is in the db/chat.sql file.

4. Replace the username, password and hostname in the php/connection.php file with the actual names mention above.

5. CHMOD the subdirectory /chat/chats and the files in the subdirectory to 777

6. CHMOD the subdirectory /image/admin and the files in the subdirectory to 777

7. CHMOD the file /image/upload to 777

 
  8. Which files do I need to CHMOD?
You need to CHMOD the following files:
  • CHMOD the subdirectory /chat/chats and the files in the subdirectory to 777
  • CHMOD the subdirectory /image/admin and the files in the subdirectory to 777
  • CHMOD the file /image/upload to 777
 
  9. What is CHMOD?
CHMOD means to change permissions/attributes of a file or a directory on a Linux/Unix system, usually by an FTP program. If you are running a Windows server you should make the subdirectories /images/products and /myadmin/doc readable/writeable (in most cases from the cpanel).
 
  10. What if I have problems installing the software?
Worry not, we offer free installation!
 
  11. What about upgrades? Are they free?
You will be entitled to free upgrades for life if you purchase our Hosted Packages as our staff will take care of all the upgrades. However, incase of Owned Leased package, you will be entitled to free upgrades for the first year. In case of Annual Version Leased, if you renew your license for the next year then you will get that year's upgrades free too. Upgrades can be downloaded from your customer account at www.leadchat.com.

There will be 1 or 2 major updates of LeadChat in a year while minor updates will go on as and when required.
